Marco very satisfied with Test (Lola Mazda)

Marco returned very satisfied after having done a test with the KSM Lola Mazda.
He was impressed with both the car and the team who were very organized and have showed great professionalism.
Even though he had not been in a race car since April he immidiately felt good in the car and with the good
feedback given by KSM official pilot Hideki Noda he got to understand the car well in no time at all.
Knowing that the car had to enter the team's home race at the Nürburgring 15-17. August he could not afford to
take any risks, yet he managed to run lap times similar to the team's official pilots by the end of the day.

After the decision from racing Box to withdraw their Lucchini from the LMS event in Spa Marco decided to end all connections
with the Team and to not further engage in racing with them.
Monza, the Race

In the weekend of 25-27th of April the second round of the prestigeous Le Mans Series was run on the beautifull circuit of Monza, Italy.
For Marco this was the home event were he and the Team wanted to show their skills after the round at the Catalunya circuit in Barcelona.
In the free practice rounds on friday and saturday the Nr. 30 Lucchini Judd still had problems with the setup of the car and therefore
the pilots did not have the chance to show their potential and/or that of the car.
However there was less distance between the Racing Box Lucchini and the other Teams as compared to the situation in Barcelona.
The whole Team was trustfull of a good result as the car had already shown it's reliability over a 1000 Km. distance.

Race at Barcelona

At 11:35 we have started the first race of the season with one single goal; to finish the 1000 km long race in order to gather as much data as possible so we can continue the development for the rest of the season.
At the end of the second hour of racing during the third driver change an electronical problem arose that stopped us from restarting the engine. The team had to repair the starter motor, after a few minutes the mechanics of Team Racing box managed to bring the car back on the track. Before this stop the team was holding the 7th place in the LMP-2 class.
Marco and his team mate Filippo Francioni have changed turns at the steering wheel of the Lucchini Judd for the remainder of the race. They were driving a car that has been suffering all weekend from various problems with suspension and shock absorbers which made it hard to drive.
The race turned out to be a good debute for Marco considering that this is a complete new racing class for him and that the race was held on a track he never drove on before.
When the car finally was flagged of by the checkered flag the whole team was having a party to celebrate the achievement of the preset goal.

After having resolved several annoying problems with the electrical installation of the Lucchini, finally at 16:00 Hrs. on March the 3rd 2008 the Racing Box Lucchini-Judd made it’s debute on a circuit without having further problems. After this initial run Marco took the car and did several laps. Apart from one spin caused by faulty setup of the brake balance of the car the first run of Marco in the Lucchini-Judd LMP-2 was positive. Back in the box Marco expressed his impression of the car; the car is very smooth, but there are still many things that need to be setup right.
